OUR GREATER COMMUNITY
We, here at First Congregational Church of Mountain Home, ID, are part of the United Church of Christ: a collection of 5,148 Congregations across the United States with about 1 million members all together. The United Church of Christ has a history of advocating and working for justice, and is well-known for their proclamation that “God is Still Speaking!” Our faith is over 2,000 years old, but our thinking is not. We are always listening for God’s guidance.
We are a spiritually diverse and inclusive Christian community. We believe faith should unite all people. The military community is welcome
‘THAT THEY MAY ALL BE ONE.’ (JOHN 17:21)
The words remind us of our history as a union of different Christian traditions. And it calls us to activism in the present. In the UCC, it is our calling to engage in ecumenical relationships that seek to heal the broken unity of the Body of Christ. And the words also call us to the future, to the time envisioned by Christ when ‘all may be one.’”
